I love to start the day with something super healthy and Purple Power Protein Smoothie definitely fits the bill. Loaded with nutrients, antioxidants and fiber from blueberries, pineapples and spinach. A small dose of good fat from almonds. Calcium, manganese, phosphorus and healthy omega-3 fats from chia seeds. And of course, protein from protein powder. All that good stuff blended together into a pretty, purple drink to give you lots of energy. And it tastes great too. It's not really sweet but just sweet enough.
The other great thing about smoothies for breakfast (or anytime) is that they are so easy. Just dump everything in the blender and puree. Done! And you can drink it in the car, so they're great when you're in a hurry. This recipe makes one large serving which makes it perfect as a meal replacement.
When I was in high school, my favorite color was purple. My bestie, Deena, loved it too. She even wrote "Purple Power" in my yearbook. We loved making purple frozen drinks at her house which might have included some vodka. Well, this is my grown up version of that purple power. Cheers!

Lise,
My friend, Lisa Mann, introduced me to your site! We share a common name - Lise! I go by both my first and middle names, Mary Lise, but pronounce "Lise" like "Lease". I grew up in north Mississippi, but have called Dothan home for 21 years although my roots to my home state run deep! I love Alabama and am thankful that I have two "homes" now! Your blog is fabulous and already I have flagged many recipes to try. Although I love to cook and grew up with a wonderful Southern hostess and cook (my Mother), I spend more time in the floral design area with my blog and business, Garden Gate. I eagerly anticipate following your beautiful blog. Blessings! Mary Lise Patterson
